I am Murty Polavarapu and I would iike to thank you for voting in the 2008 IEEE Election!  I was a candidate for Delegate-Elect/Director-Elect of IEEE Region 2.    No matter who wins, I am committed to serving IEEE members in any capacity that I am capable of.   If you did not get a  chance to vote this year, I hope that you will make your voice heard next year.

I am an electrical engineer actively engaged in developing advanced semiconductor devices for applications that involve national security and exploration of  outer space. Please see my biography page for more details on my career.

Region 2 of IEEE has nearly ten percent of the total IEEE membership with over thirty thousand members and includes Southern New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia and Northern Virginia. Its members have included luminaries such as Bill Middleton, Leo Young, Tom Doeppner and James Strother who have made significant contributions to the growth of IEEE over many decades.

Current challenges of IEEE in Region 2 fall into three areas.

First and foremost, we need to better serve our members.
Second, we need to grow the membership in the Region.
Finally, we need to build a sustainable leadership structure that can address the first two tasks.

For my approach to these challenges, see my Issues page.

I welcome the members of Region 2 to join me in a dialogue about the issues confronting us in IEEE and help develop solutions. You can send me an email at murtyp@ieee.org.  You can also browse my travel calendar to see if  we can meet personally..

The election has ended! Check here on October 11 for results.
